How knowing Plumbing reduced the tiring wait at the Tax Office
I was just not conscious of the fact that I would end up being a hero when I was asked to come to the Riverside Tax Office by the Deputy Tax Officer. But this acknowledgment was not to sit on my head unless and until I lived some amount of ordeal. I someway used to think getting work executed by state and local officers was just about a case of “Much Ado about Nothing!” I never really believed getting a small task done over there could stretch over a couple of agonizing hours. When I received a call from the local Tax Office of Riverside asking me to arrive and collect my Tax refund cheque, little did I know that it would be burdensome to get it collected even though they themselves had asked me to stop by and pick it up. So here is the incident reconstructed for my readers – as I arrive at their office on Monday morning, I get to see there is a huge line of persons, all waiting to get their cheque in their hand!! Who doesn’t love money coming to them? Anyhow, amazingly, the line was dropping a good length out of the office premises into the side lawn. I knew I had a lengthy wait before me. My turn did finally come, subsequent to a exhausting two and a half hours, only to realize that I would have to hang around for some more time as the bathroom tap of the office washroom had become loose and declined to stop the water flow. Because of this, ground was getting damp with water. Wow!! I simply stood speculating what Riverside Plumbing had against me to have postponed my cheque!!! I stood praying that God sends a few Riverside Plumbers to get this sorted immediately. Suddenly, it struck me! I can try dismantling the tap washer and oil it to make it stiff again. Thus, I volunteered to have a go at it. I had the trouble resolved, in 5 minutes! I was so proud of myself. All tax officials thanked me generously. They felt that I was a very proficient Riverside Plumber who came as their rescuer! Imagine!! Right away, the cheque was given to me, and I was also treated with complete royalty and coddling.
